New Government, New Opportunities?

British politics is never dull, but the last few weeks have left people’s heads spinning. In the midst of constitutional turmoil, what sense can we make of events? What are the possible outcomes, and what will British politics, parliament and government look like by Autumn?

No-one has a crystal ball, but we can try to make sense of it all. We can review the possible outcome of the Conservative leadership election, the future Cabinet, the Government’s economic and social policy agenda, and the Opposition parties’ responses.

This lively, one-day course brings together the latest intelligence and events for those seeking to influence the political environment.

Participants will review:

  • The constitutional conundrums caused by the chaos
  • The possible outcome of the Conservative Party leadership race
  • Runners and riders for future Cabinet positions
  • The implications for government legislation
  • Tools and tactics for influencing politicians.

The course will be led by Dods associate trainer Paul Richards. Paul Richards has delivered training courses for Dods for over a decade, for civil servants, politicians, political staffers, and public affairs professionals. His first job in Parliament was in 1991, working for a front-bench MP. Since then, he has been a special adviser, MPs’ speech-writer, parliamentary candidate, and commentator on politics for a wide variety of media, here and abroad. He is author of four books, including How to Win an Election.
